Congratulations to Ditha on completing her Ph.D.!

Congratulations to Ni Gusti Ayu Nanditha (Ditha), our Ph.D. candidate, on completing her Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia. Ditha defended her Ph.D. thesis on the 29th of July, 2022 and received the highest thesis grading. The EMBARC team is proud of you, Ditha. We wish Ditha the best of luck with all of her future endeavors and expect to see amazing things arise from her research career!

Dr. Lima was a Panel Speaker at the Canadian Association for HIV Research (CAHR) 2022 Conference

 

Dr. Lima, the Epidemiology/Public Health Representative for the CAHR Board of Directors, was a panel speaker at the CAHR conference special session ‘Using Administrative Data to Support the HIV Care Cascade in Key Populations’. This conference was held virtually from April 27th to April 29th, 2022. Dr. Lima presented the challenges and opportunities in routinely collecting and using data on access to HIV care and the care cascade in key populations in the Province of British Columbia.

Nance Cunningham Authored a Chapter in the Global Handbook of Health Promotion.

Our very own Nance Cunningham, a Ph.D. candidate together with Tassawar Ali, authored a chapter titled “Conducting Research with People: Hepatitis C and Intensive Engagement with High-Risk Occupational Groups in Karachi, Pakistan” in the Global Handbook of Health Promotion. This handbook is a highly relevant reference tool for researchers and graduate students in health promotion, public health, education and socio-health sciences; practitioners in health, medical, and social sectors; policy-makers; and health research administrators. Nance’s thesis project aims to bring patients’ clear voices into education, provide insight into patient experience, and give learners advice based on real encounters. Congratulations Nance!

Ditha received an Honorable Mention for her Presentation at CIHR Canadian Student Research Health Forum (CSRHF)

Congratulations to Ni Gusti Ayu Nanditha (Ditha), our Ph.D. student, on receiving an honourable mention for her presentation at the Canadian Student Research Health Forum (CSRHF)! The CSHRF offers a one (1) week programme aimed to network, showcase and recognize health research trainees through an adjudicated presentation of their research, participation in CIHR-led career development seminars and the presentation of a symposium by world renowned, leading-edge scientists. Ditha’s presentation was titled “Disparities in multimorbidity and mortality among people living with and without HIV across British Columbia’s health regions: A population-based cohort study”. The event held in Manitoba (Virtual) in June 2021.

Ditha received the Canada Graduate Scholarship- Doctoral Program (CGS-D)

Congratulations to Ni Gusti Ayu Nanditha (Ditha), our Ph.D. student, on being awarded the Canadian Institute of Health Research’s (CIHR) Canadian Graduate Scholarship – Doctoral Program! The scholarship reflects Canada’s effort to promote continued excellence in Canadian research by rewarding and retaining high-calibre doctoral students at Canadian institutions. Through her dissertation work, Ditha hopes to establish population-level evidence on the burden of aging with HIV infection in British Columbia, informing policies and enabling reforms which better address the care needs for people aging with HIV.
